Painted by Henriëtte Ronner-Knip
Ok this post is going to be a bit different then my last few. Somehow I convinced myself that my apartment could do with a little cuteness, and long story short I ended up cat-sitting two adorable kittens. They've been quiet enough, if not a bit messy because they're still so small and like walking around in their food while eating it. I considered keeping them but as a budding writing who's trying to go professional and not to mention the small amount of space I have in my treehouse I don't think it's in the stars to work out.
(But if anyone is reading this who is interested, besides these two kittens there's seven other sweet babies who were callously left on the doorstep in front of a vet hospital. They all badly need homes right now. I guess it's not overly callous, because at least they didn't use them for target practice or anything but seriously people, spay and neuter your pets! It's very important. Don't wait! Love is in the air and you never know when you're going to end up with a box full of kittens!)
So this is a bit off from my Victorian posts because my brain is full of mewing and cat food right now. But there is a Victorian artist I would like to highlight nonetheless.
Henriëtte Ronner-Knip (1821-1909) was a popular painter for pampered Victorian parlour cats (among other animals as well). Apparently Victorians loved their cats and wanted to immortalize them in precious paintings. Here is a more thorough article about that and Mrs. Ronner-Knip.

Cats are soooo Victorian and I am certainly a fan of them. So cat lovers kiss a kitty today!
Rene's Recommendation: The IT Crowd
This British comedy is seriously undderated in the United States. It's won a BAFTA as well as an Emmy and it's not as well known as it should be.
Here is the logline from Wikipedia: "Set in the London offices of the fictional corporation Reynholm Industries, the show revolves around the three staff members of its I.T. (information technology) department. The two geeky technicians, a genius named Moss (Ayoade) the workshy Roy (O'Dowd), are headed by their clueless boss and IT department 'relationship manager', Jen (Parkinson)."
Ok it sounds a little boring. And to be honest after finding it on the watch instantly section of Netflix I almost turned it off because the opening credits are a little weird. They're kind of a badly pixilated cartoon. I thought oh man, another regretable online Netflix pick. (And I've had a few of those.)
But after watching one episode I was hooked!!! It's one of those shows where after watching a few episodes you're not only laughing out loud, but for me personally, I've had to pause it on occasion because I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. I've also gone back and re-watched each season and that is extremely rare for me.
You should watch at least three episodes. That's what my mom says. Try everything three times. And if you don't like it, well, I'll be a moneky's uncle!
