So the apartment complex owner comes to my door, our lease agreement in hand and as I look on she rips the agreement in two pieces. They float away in the wind when she says to me, "We're kicking you out of your treehouse." I stand there with a look of horror on my face until she says, "because we are kicking you out you get to choose where you want to live. Money is no option, deeds are no option, wherever you want to live will be completely free with no strings attached. Now where do you want to go?" Then I say, "Can I bring my family?" "Yes," she says. "Can I bring my friends?" "Yes," says the woman. "And everything I love, I can bring all that too?" "Yes, yes," says the woman. "Alright then," I say, "I'm moving into the Carson Mansion in Eureka, California." "Done," says the woman and hands me the keys to the door.
Oh! You'll have to excuse me. Was I writedreaming? I think I wuz.:)
Yes, this is one of the most beautiful houses I have ever seen. There are many beautiful houses in the world of course (and no beautiful house is complete without cherished people to go in it) but if I could live for any length of time in the Carson Mansion I would be one happy girl.
It's architecture is unique and extraordinary. According to Wikipedia it's a mix of every major Victorian style architecture that's out there. Currently the Ingomar Club (http://ingomar.org/) owns it. And while I appreciate the fact that someone is helping to preserve this exquisite national landmark, they don't give private tours and obviously it's not on the market to buy. Why don't architects make houses like this anymore? Would it kill some very wealthy person to actually build another crazy unique Victorian house like this from scratch? Maybe they are and no one's sending me the memo.
Anyway, one day I will go to Eureka and at the least take pictures of my dream home from the outside. I'll cross my fingers it it won't get swallowed up in an earthquake or fire till then.
Rene's Recommendation: Spot Shot
Spot Shot Carpet Stain Remover is great stuff. I'm a little biased because I haven't taken it through rigorous testing or anything but it's great on stains--new and old. It dries quickly too which is nice. It's one of the only cleaning products I can happily promote. No need to rant and rave about ruined carpet as long as you got a bottle of spot shot nearby! (And for a dual purpose it can befuddle a roach just long enough till you find your can of roach spray. Not that I've had any experience with that.)
